Buying Credits
Overview of process
We operate a simple process for buying credits.
Once you have registered on the site, you can complete as many applications as you require. Each application will have a unique reference and only be visible to the registered user and us.
In the case of nutrient neutrality phosphate credits, we operate a simple 5 step process flow to purchase credits of:
Step 1 – Select if you require Phosphate or Nitrate credits. The Local Planning Authority for the development will define what nutrient mitigation is required. See their nutrient neutrality web pages and their nutrient neutrality calculator.
Step 2 – Complete the application form. The form will ask for confirmation of the river catchment and the sub-catchment the development is within. These will be the details entered into the relevant Local Planning Authority’s nutrient neutrality calculator. Note: It is imperative that the sub-catchment is correctly identified as the Local Planning Authority (LPA) will not accept mitigation against your planned development unless the development site is downstream of the source of the mitigation.
Step 3 – We will confirm the application details against available credits and we will make you an offer to buy credits. It is your responsibility to ensure the development’s nutrient neutrality calculator has been completed correctly, the correct sub-catchment for the development has been identified and the number of credits required have been entered into the credits application form.
Step 4 – Review the Terms & Conditions and pay a deposit using the application reference.
Step 5 – When the credits are confirmed for release to us by the Local Planning Authority, you will be contacted to pay the outstanding balance. Upon payment you will receive the credit certificate numbers and the Local Planning authority will be notified of the scheme to link the S106 agreement to your development.
The process for buying BNG credits is simpler as the credits can be used anywhere in the UK.
Step 1 – Select BNG units required to meet your planning application.
Step 2 – Complete the application form.
Step 3 – Review the Terms & Conditions and pay a deposit using the application reference.
Step 4 – Pay the remaining balance and the BNG unit certificates will be issued.
